Maria is a 9th grader who joined the Handmaids of the Queen Sodality this year, although she has participated in the younger levels of Sodality for eight years. Her patron saint is St. Maria Goretti. She enjoys being part of such an inspirational group like Handmaids, and hopes that she can help inspire others, too. One way she strives to live up to the goals of Sodality is by dressing modestly and being a good example to her siblings. Maria is known for her dry sense of humor, much like her dad!

One of our Sophomores
Abril is in the 10th grade, and participating in Sodality for the 3rd year. Her patron saints are St. Therese of Lisieux and Our Lady of Guadalupe. One of the things she most enjoys about being in Sodality is participating in the major church events that honor Our Lady...especially the ceremonies and rosary procession during the annual Fatima Conference. Abril strives to live up to the Sodality motto and goals by being kind especially to those who may dislike her, and bowing her head at the Names of Jesus and Mary. In her spare time, she enjoys making jewelry and rosaries.

A Recent Member
Sofie is one of our newer members. She is a junior in high school and has been part of the Handmaids of the Queen Sodality for the past two years, serving on the Catholic Action Committee ... one of our busiest officer positions! Her patron saints are St. Maria Goretti and St. Philomena. Sofie particularly appreciates how close members become to one another, and how much they learn about themselves, and about becoming closer to The Blessed Virgin Mary. She LOVED our recent fundraiser ... baking nearly 800 pretzels to support missionary priests. In Sofie's words, "It was challenging but fun!" She tries to always be a good example to her peers, remembering that even one good action sometimes does more good than thousands of words.

Meeting another member!
Our next member ... Christiana... is an 11th grader. She celebrates Corpus Christi as her patronal feastday, and also St. Gemma, her Confirmation saint. Christiana serves on our Catholic Action Committee, and has been a member of the parish sodalities since she was in 2nd grade! Her favorite part of being in Sodality is being able to do charitable works to benefit the parish. Planning them and seeing their success means a lot to her. Her favorite memory is the trip we took to Portland/Tacoma/Seattle in 2019, and she will cherish forever the things we did together that weekend. As for living the Sodality motto, Christiana often asks herself, "What would Mary do in this situation?" and then tries to think, speak and act as She would. She tries to remember to always be a good example to the younger girls of the school and parish.

Our Third Member
Mari is the third member of our Sodality that we are introducing. Like Amy and Simonne, she is a senior. She has participated in the various levels of Sodality for 11 years, and served as our high school Sodality secretary for three years in the past. Her favorite part of being in the group is being with other girls who are trying to be better Catholics, and to grow in likeness to Our Lady.
One of her favorite events is the annual candlelight Rosary procession during the Fatima Conference. Mari tries to complete her minims daily, and to live up to the same standards in public as she does in private. In her spare time, Mari is active in Students for Life, and has been an Irish dancer for 14 years!

MEET ANOTHER MEMBER!
Simonne Biller is also a senior, and serves as the treasurer of our Sodality. It is her third year of membership, and Simonne says that her favorite thing about Sodality is learning new things about Our Lady. The activity she liked best was the Epiphany celebration and sleepover at Mrs. T's house. Her efforts to live up to the Sodality motto include fervently praying the daily rosary. And as a fun fact... Simonne's favorite animal is the giraffe!

Meet a Member!
For some time now, we've been planning to post a few fun facts about our members, and today is the day it finally starts! We'll start with our current Prefect, Amy.
Amy is a senior. Her patron saint is St. Aemiliana, whose feast is commemorated on December 24th. Ever since she was in 2nd grade (10 years ago!) Amy has participated in the various levels of Sodality ... The Children of Mary, The Messengers of the Immaculate Heart, and now The Handmaids of the Queen.
Her favorite part about being in Sodality is striving with other girls to grow in devotion to Mary. She enjoys all the different activities, in particular the sleepovers and pretzel-baking events. And as far as trying to live up to the motto, "May all who see me, see Thee, O Mary," Amy tries to remember it particularly in the way she dresses and acts towards those around her.
We'll introduce more members soon!
